26 ministers take oath as Gujarat Government revamps entire Cabinet ahead of 2027 assembly elections

Following the resignation of the entire cabinet in Gujarat, the BJP-led Government on Friday announced a new cabinet with 26 ministers who took oath at the Mahatma Mandir in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Governor Acharya Devvrat, and BJP National President JP Nadda. 

Apart from Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the entire cabinet has been revamped. The new cabinet includes cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wife and Jamnagar MP Rivaba Jadeja, Harsh Sanghvi, Swaroopji Thakor, Rushikesh Patel, Pravenkumar Mali, Darshna Waghela, and Praful Pansheriya, among others. 

Six ministers from the previous cabinet have been retained, and the new one includes three women ministers, too. 

According to media reports, the reshuffling of the cabinet is considered to be a "strategic reset" ahead of the 2027 assembly elections in the state. The former ministers submitted their resignations by Thursday afternoon and are already vacating their offices. CM Patel met with Governor Acharya Devvrat in the evening and submitted the list of new ministers.

Harsh Ramesh Sanghvi: Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat (Served as Home Minister of the state in the previous cabinet, and contests from the Majura constituency)

Jitendrabhai Savjibhai Vaghani (From Bhavnagar West constituency)

Nareshbhai Maganbhai Patel (From the Gandevi constituency)

Arjunvhai Devabhai Modhwadia (Won as Congress candidate in 2022, later joined BJP and won the bypolls)

Dr Pradyuman Vaja (Kodinar constituency)

Ramanbhai Bhikhabhai Solanki (Borsad constituency)

Ishwarsinh Thakorbhai Patel (Ankleshwar constituency)

Manisha Rajivbhai Vakil (from Vadodara constituency)

Prafulbhai Pansheriya (Kamrej constituency)

Darshana M Vaghela (Asarwa)

Kaushik Kantibhai Vekariya (Amreli)

Pravenkumar Mali (Deesa)

Ever since Bhupendra Patel replaced late Vijay Rupani as the Chief Minister in 2021, it has been the first major cabinet reshuffle after the massive victory in the 2022 assembly polls. The previous council of ministers included eight cabinet-ranked ministers, two ministers of state (independent charge), and six ministers of state.
