Some of the notable candidates include Anant Singh, who will be contesting from the Mokama constituency, which has emerged to be a vital seat this election. Further, JD(U) has also fielded candidates for four constituencies, which were earlier claimed by Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). This tends to be a strategic move that will strengthen its position within the NDA alliance.
JD(U) has also taken a step ahead in electoral preparations with the release of the list. It will disclose other details of the candidates in the coming days.
JD(U) State Chief Umesh Khushwaha is fielded by the party from Mahanar, and Sharavan Kumar, Minister for Rural Development of Bihar, will be contesting from Nalanda, among others.
The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has already released its first list of 71 candidates on Tuesday. Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj has released two lists, leading ahead of the rival parties. The initial list had 51 candidates, followed by a second one with 65 candidates.
NDA has decided on seat distribution, while the Mahagathbandhan hasn't done it yet. BJP and JD(U) will contest on 101 seats each, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) on 29, while Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM) are fielding their candidates in six constituencies each.
Nitish Kumar's JD(U) will begin its poll campaigning on Thursday.
The 243-seat Bihar assembly's polling will take place in two phases, first on November 6, and then on November 11. The counting is scheduled on November 14.
