Bihar elections: Tejashwi Yadav rejects poll predictions, Congress says, Wait for real results

Highlights NDA welcomed the projections of exit polls ahead of the Bihar election results But the Mahagathbandhan and Jan Suraaj objected to these, calling them "manipulative" Exit polls have revealed a safe majority for the NDA

Bihar poll results are set to be declared on Friday, November 14. Ahead of the decisive date, various pollsters have predicted a safe win for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), while the Mahagathbandhan is said to be lagging.

Exit poll predictions

Notably, Axis My India forecasted 121-141 seats for the NDA, with the Mahagathbandhan bagging 98 to 120 seats. It also showed that Tejashwi Yadav was the top priority as the Chief Minister among the people in Bihar. The People's Pulse Poll survey has also held NDA in a strong position with 133-159 seats, giving 75-101 seats to the Tejashwi Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan. Jan Suraaj is projected to secure 0-5 seats, while the others are expected to get 2-8 seats. Today's Chanakya showed NDA leading with a majority, securing 148-172 seats, with the Mahagathbandhan restricted at 65-89 seats, and the other parties between 3-9 seats.

People's Insight survey predicted 133-148 seats for the NDA, 87-102 seats for the Mahagathbandhan, 0-2 seats for Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj, and 3-6 seats for the independent candidates. While exit polls by the JVC pollster suggest 135-150 seats for the NDA, and 88-103 seats for the Mahagathbandhan.

Parties and leaders react

NDA welcomed the projections, while Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Jan Suraaj have raised objections to the exit polls.

Speaking to ANI, Union Minister Nityanand Rai said that the people of Bihar have given their "seal of approval for the NDA government" and will win more seats than predicted.

Rai said, "In Bihar, the influence of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name and work, along with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's wave of good governance, is evident."

Tejashwi Yadav questions exit polls

Tejashwi Yadav questioned the exit poll predictions, stating that his own party's assessment showed that the BJP and NDA were "anxious and nervous." Adding that the kind of voting which took place made the ruling party "restless."

Further alleging, "People patiently waited in long queues to cast their votes. Some of them even waited until 6-7 pm. And while voting was still going on, exit polls started coming out."

Congress reacts

Reacting to the projections, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, while giving the example of the Haryana assembly elections, urged the people to wait for end results.

He said, "Exit polls in Haryana predicted a landslide victory for Congress, but what happened? We have now demonstrated what happened in Haryana. Let us wait for the final results."

Congress MP Digvijay Singh told ANI, "When I visited there, it was an equal fight...If the NDA wins by more than 140 seats, it will be due to a manipulated voter list and a manipulated EVM."
