A self-styled Godman in Delhi, known as Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, aka Parth Sarthy, has been booked by the Delhi Police after several female students of a management institute in Vasant Kunj accused him of sexual harassment.
According to PTI, even after several raids and continuous surveillance operations, the accused remains on the run. A complaint was registered against him at the Vasant Kunj North Police Station on August 4.
The report, while citing sources, stated that Saraswati is a member of the management committee of the institute, which is affiliated to his Ashram. While investigating, the Police recorded statements of 32 female students studying PGDM, enrolled under the EWS scholarship at the Shri Sharda Institute of Indian Management in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.
17 students have alleged that Saraswati used to send obscene messages, use abusive language, and make unwanted physical advances towards them. Officials also said that some faculty members, as well as the administrative staff of the institute, pressured the students to comply with Saraswati's demands.
The case was registered under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), after which 16 victims gave their statements before the magistrate.
During the initial investigations, the police also found a red Volvo car in the institute's basement, with a forged number plate - 39 UN 1, which was reportedly used by Saraswati. After this, the police filed a separate FIR on August 25, and the vehicle was seized.
The authorities have confirmed that Saraswati was constantly evading his arrest, ever since the case came to light.
