Indian Air Force Day: IAF Chief highlights Operation Sindoor, praises India's 'home-grown capabilities'

 

Highlights The Indian Air Force celebrated its 93rd anniversary on October 8, 2025 This year's parade was held at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad. Earlier, it was held in Chennai (2024) and Prayagraj (2023) IAF Chief Air Marshall AP Singh reflected upon the success of Operation Sindoor and also hailed India's advancement in home-grown capabilities

On the occasion of Indian Air Force Day at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Marshall AP Singh reflected upon India's response to the Pakistan-sponsored terror attack in Pahalgam and hailed India's home-grown capabilities in defence. 

In his address, Air Marshall Singh said, "Our performance in Operation Sindoor fills us with professional pride." 

Speaking about India's precision attack on terror outfits in May, he said, "Operation Sindoor is a shining example of what can be achieved through meticulous planning, disciplined training, and determined execution." 

 

 

Further reflecting upon the impact of the Operation, Air Marshall Singha added, "It proves to the world how air power can be effectively used in shaping military outcomes in just a few days. India's bold and precise attacks restored the rightful place of offensive air action in the national consciousness...The outstanding performance of the indigenously developed and integrated weapons, which delivered precise and devastating blows deep inside enemy territory, vindicates our faith in home-grown capabilities."

A massive parade was held at the Hindon Air base, where the IAF showed its might and prowess by showcasing advanced fighter jets such as Rafale, MiG-29, with indigenous systems like Akash surface-to-air missile system. It was a complete display of IAF's operational strength and advancing technological capabilities. The Hindon Ais Base is one of the largest and most strategic air bases of India. 

Today marks the 93rd anniversary of the Indian Air Force. The first operational flight of the Indian Air Force soared in the sky in 1933. Ever since then, the IAF has protected India's skies from enemies. 

Earlier in the day, apart from Air Marshall AP Singh, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi, and Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi paid their tributes to the martyrs at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.
