Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his visit to Manipur on Saturday, for the first time since ethnic violence erupted in the state, said that he and his government stand with the people.
Addressing the gathering in Churachandpur, the center of ethnic clashes in the state, the Prime Minister said, "Aur main aaj aapko waada karta hoon, main aapke saath hoon. Bharat Sarkar aapke saath hain. Manipur ke logon ke saath hain (I promise you. I am with you. The Government of India is with you. It is with the people of Manipur)."
Describing Manipur as a land of "hope and promise", he said that it is beginning to recover after a brief period of violence. He stated, "A little while ago, I met the people affected who are staying in camps, and after speaking with them, I can say that a new dawn of hope and trust is emerging in Manipur."
PM Modi also emphasised that the establishment of peace ultimately leads to the development of any region. He said, "Now this time of the 21st century is the time of the Northeast. Therefore, the Government of India has constantly given priority to the development of Manipur. Over the past eleven years, many long-standing disputes and conflicts in the northeast have ended. People have chosen the path of peace and prioritized development, and as a result, it is constantly progressing. Before 2014, the development rate of Manipur was less than one percent. Now, the development rate is faster than before."
He also appreciated that discussions among different groups had begun and were about to reach an understanding. The PM highlighted that the meetings were a part of the Centre's measures, where they are prioritizing dialogue, respect, and mutual understanding to work towards peace.
Adding, "I appeal to all organisations to move forward on the path of peace, fulfill your dreams, and secure the future of your children."
Upon the visit, the PM inaugurated development projects worth Rs 1,200 crore in Imphal. These include the Civil Secretariat, IT SEZ building, and new police headquarters at Mantripukhri, among others. He also interacted with the locals of Manipur.

I am well aware of the dreams and struggles of Manipur's tribal youth, and various measures are underway to address your concerns."
He asserted that a special package of around Rs 3,000 crore has been approved, with a separate provision of Rs 500 crore to assist those affected.
