While addressing the nation on the eve of the 79th Independence Day from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a strong message for Pakistan and its nuclear blackmail every now and then. He stated firmly that India will treat terrorists and those who aid them as one, and any future misadventure will meet decisive retribution at the hands of its armed forces.
PM Modi went on to praise the Indian Armed Forces, saying the operation (referring to Operation Sindoor) incurred heavy losses for Pakistan, with new evidence of the damage surfacing almost every day. Reaffirming his stance, the Prime Minister said that India won't bow to Pakistan's "nuclear threats."

He said, "What our forces achieved in Operation Sindoor has not been witnessed in decades. We have set a new normal in tackling cross-border terrorism. I salute our brave soldiers who delivered punishment for the Pahalgam attack far beyond the enemy's imagination."
Calling the Indus Water Treaty "unjust and one-sided", the Prime Minister said that India and its farmers have the sole right over the country's share of the waters of the Indus rivers. Adding that the decades-old agreement has caused Indian agriculture "enormous harm", allowing Indian-origin rivers to irrigate "fields of our enemies", while leaving Indian soil and farmers parched.
While referring to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed over 26 civilian lives, he reiterated, "Blood and water cannot flow together."
The PM said from the Red Fort, "The waters that belong to India will be used by India, for India's farmers alone. We will not tolerate any arrangement that deprives them. This agreement is unacceptable to us.
