Rakshabandhan 2025 is celebrated today all over India, with great fervor and joy. Sisters tie Rakhi (a sacred thread) on their brothers' wrists, celebrating love and protection. On this occasion, many senior political leaders, including President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah, extended their warm wishes to the nation.
President Draupadi Murmu wished, "On the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens living in India and abroad."
PM Modi took to his official X account, wishing the nation a joyous celebration. He posted, "Best wishes on the special occasion of Rakshabandhan", highlighting the role of the festival in strengthening sibling relationships and bringing families together.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his heartfelt wishes to the countrymen on the festival of Rakshabandhan. He wrote on X, "Heartfelt best wishes to all countrymen on the sacred festival of 'Rakshabandhan', dedicated to the unbreakable bond of love, trust, and commitment to protection between brothers and sisters. I pray to God that this festival becomes a source of joy and enthusiasm in everyone's life."
While wishing, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reflected upon the values behind Rakshabandhan, which is more than just tying a thread. He wrote, "Heartfelt best wishes to all of you on the sacred occasion of Rakshabandhan. This festival is not only about the purity of the rakhi thread but also a symbol of the commitment to honor, protect, and ensure the happiness and prosperity of our sisters. May this festival, a symbol of the love between brothers and sisters, further strengthen the spirit of protection within us - that is my prayer to God."

The festival is also celebrated by organizing various events in the country. This year, school children in Delhi tied Rakhis to the Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, showing their respect and gratitude. In another gesture that celebrates the bond beyond birth and religion, Former Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan tied a Rakhi to BJP leader and ex-Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
In Puri (Odisha), special rakhis were created for Lord Jagannath and Balbhadra. Devotees in Ujjain visited the Mahakaleshwar temple to offer their prayers and seek blessings. While renowned sand artist of India, Sudarshan Patnaik, created a sand sculpture showcasing Lord Jagannath on Puri sand beach to mark the festival.
