Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X on Saturday, saying that he "deeply appreciates" and "fully reciprocates" US President Donald Trump's sentiments and "positive assessment" of their ties.
In his post, the Prime Minister highlighted that India and the US have a very positive and forward-looking, comprehensive, and global strategic partnership. Ever since the Trump administration imposed the additional tariffs on India, this has been the first time that PM Modi gave a public shoutout to India-US relations.

Earlier on Friday, Donald Trump praised PM Modi as a "great Prime Minister" and said that he will always be friends with him.
While interacting with the media at the White House, Trump said, "I'll always be friends with Modi...he is a great Prime Minister. He is great. But I just don't like what he is doing at this particular moment. But India and the United States have a very special relationship. There is nothing to worry about. We just have moments on occasion."
India and US relations took a blow due to 50 percent tariffs imposed on Indian imports. After imposing 25 percent tariffs, Donald Trump imposed an additional 25 percent as a penalty for purchasing Russian oil.
India's External Affairs Ministry had called it "unfair" and had accused the Trump administration of targeting India over its trade with Russia.
In his social media post on Friday, the US President had stated that "the US appears to have lost India to darkest China". The remark was in reference to PM Modi's recent visit to China's Tianjin to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, where he met his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
His Truth Social post read, "Looks like we have lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China. May they have a long, prosperous future together."
India however refrained from responding to Trump's remarks.
