Operation Akhal: 2 security personnel killed during Kulgam encounter

During a gunfight between the Indian Army and terrorists, two security personnel were shot dead in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. Operation Akhal, which began on August 1, entered its ninth day on Saturday, becoming one of the longest anti-terror operations in the valley. 

The news was confirmed by the Indian Army's Chinar Corps, stating that two security personnel had lost their lives. They are identified as Lance/ Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh. 

Since the beginning of Operation Akhal, eleven security personnel have been injured so far. The Indian Army is continuing with the operation, and further details are awaited. 

Two terrorists have been killed during the Operation since August 1. The security forces have launched a cordon and search operation in Akhal's forest area in South Kashmir district, after specific intelligence inputs citing the presence of terrorists in the region. 

Operation Akhal is a joint operation between the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
