A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed and hit a school in Dhaka's Uttara area on Monday. At least 19 people have been killed and over 100 others have been left injured.Â
The jet, identified as F7-BJI, is a training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force went down at Milestone School and College, while students were present inside the premises. The aircraft was on a routine training mission when it crashed around 13:06 hours on Monday.Â
The plane crash led to a sudden shockwave in the entire region as emergency services rushed to the rescue. The fire personnel and military team reached the site.Â

In a brief statement issued by the Bangladesh Army's Public Relations Office, it was confirmed that the aircraft belonged to the Air Force. It did not reveal the cause of the crash or whether the pilot was ejected.Â
While a spokesperson from the Milestone School and College has stated that the jet plane crash happened near the school gate while classes were underway. He said, "The plane fell on the gate and crashed nearby. A class was in session where the plane crashed. The injured are being taken out one by one."Â
Footage of the accident that surfaced online shows smoke fumes rising from the school building, while rescue teams carried out their rescue operation and transported the injured.Â

Meanwhile, the authorities have launched a formal investigation to probe what led to the plane crash. China built F-7 BGI is a common type of jet which is mostly used by Bangladesh Air Force for its training sessions.Â
