Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has a contradictory opinion to Donald Trump on who is funding Russia's war with Ukraine, as he asserted that "India is mostly with Ukraine."Â
The Ukrainian President appeared for an interview with Fox News, where he clarified that India was on Ukraine's side. However, he did note that there are some problems linked to energy.Â
The remarks were in response to US President Donald Trump's criticism of India and China, where he called both countries "primary funders" of the ongoing war in Ukraine.Â
Zelenskyy stated, "I think India, mostly, is with us. Yes, we have these questions with energy, but I think President Trump can manage it."Â Â
Insisting on Europe building strong ties with India, he added, "Europe must make closer and stronger relations with India. I think we have to do everything not to withdraw India, and they will change their attitude towards the Russian energy sector, I am sure."Â
However, Zelenskyy was quick to mention that a similar thing cannot be expected from China. He said, "With China, it's more difficult, because today, it's not in their interests not to support Russia."Â
The journalist popped up a question to Zelenskyy as he called India, one of the contributors to the war.Â
During the interview on Fox News' "Special Report", Zelenskyy also said that Trump can change the attitude of Xi Jinping towards the war. He remarked, "I think that President Trump can change the attitude of Xi Jinping to this war, because China, we don't feel that China wants to finish this war." Â
Zelenskyy's contrary statements came hours after President Donald Trump's address at the UN General Assembly, where he called out India and China for being the "primary funders" of the ongoing war in Ukraine. He lashed out, saying, "China and India are the primary funders of the ongoing war by continuing to purchase Russian oil."Â
