AAP MP Sanjay Singh detained in J&K, can't hold any protest

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sanjay Singh has alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir Police has detained him inside the government guest house, and he is not allowed to protest against fellow party leader Mehraj Malik's arrest. 

Sharing a post on X on Thursday, he called the action of the J&K Police "dictatorship." Singh wrote, "Dictatorship is at its peak. I am in Srinagar at this moment. Raising one's voice for rights and protesting in a democracy is our constitutional right."

Singh mentioned that the AAP leaders were going to hold a protest and a press conference in Srinagar. He added, "Today, there was a press conference and sit-in in Srinagar against the illegal arrest of Mehraj Malik, but the government guest house has been turned into a police camp. I am not being allowed to leave the guest house with Imran Hussain and companions." 

Back in the day, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah also visited Singh at the guest house. Singh has alleged that Mehraj Malik was unfairly booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA), and it was a retaliation act for raising people's issues in his constituency. 

Sanjay Singh also said that BJP's efforts to "crush AAP" in Jammu and Kashmir will only make it emerge stronger in the state. He stated, "AAP MLA Mehraj Malik was booked under a serious law like PSA only because he raised his voice for building hospitals, schools, and roads in his constituency. From this historic land of Jammu and Kashmir, I want to make it clear to the BJP administration and the Prime Minister that the more you try to crush the Aam Aadmi Party, the stronger it will become." 

MLA Mehraj Malik of Doda constituency was detained by the J&K Police, being booked under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, 1978, on Monday for carrying out activities unlawful in nature and being prejudicial to the maintenance of public order.
