  • These include two elected MLAs, several former legislators, as well as the State Women's Cell chief
  • They will remain expelled from the primary membership of the RJD due to their anti-party activities

The RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) expelled 27 functionaries of its party, including two sitting MLAs, several former legislators, and its state women's cell chief, Ritu Jaiswal, on Monday for working against party lines ahead of the upcoming Bihar polls.

In an official letter issued on Monday, State RJD President Mangani Lal Mandal said, "They have been expelled from the primary membership of RJD for six years based on authorized information regarding their anti-party activities."

Those expelled among the sitting legislators include Chhote Lal Rai and Mohammad Kamran. Rai was representing the Parsa seat as the JDU candidate at present, while Kamran, who earlier represented the Govindpur seat, was dropped this time.

The former legislators who have been expelled include Ram Prakash Mahto, Anil Sahani, Saroj Yadav, Ganesh Bharti, and Anil Yadav. Ritu Jaiswal was contesting against RJD's official candidate from the Parihar constituency.

Mahagathbandhan's Chief Ministerial candidate, Tejashwi Yadav, addressed a Facebook live in the evening, where he urged the migrants of the state, who are home for the Chhath Puja festivities, to return only after casting their vote in the assembly polls.

He stated, "I promise that by next Chhath, no one will need to move out of Bihar for a job, education, or treatment."

The RJD leader also went on to target the railway minister of Bihar, citing a "lot of troubles" faced by the migrants in the boarding trains to come home for the grand festival, as he mocked the minister and his huge claims of arranging 12,000 special trains in the state.

Tejashwi slammed, "Where are those trains? People of Bihar have been seen traveling in jam-packed trains and stuck in toilets. PM Modi and his government should say sorry for this insult to Biharis."

He also announced that the Grand Alliance's joint manifesto would be released on Wednesday. Adding that he will also hold joint rallies with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday.
