Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the Lok Sabha how three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were killed by the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K police under Operation Mahadev during Tuesday's discussion. Shah said, "In a joint Operation Mahadev, the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K police have neutralised three terrorists who were involved in the Pahalgam terror attack."Â
Amit Shah shared the information while participating in a special discussion in the Parliament about Operation Sindoor. He said that the terrorists were killed under Operation Mahadev on Monday, which involved one of the masterminds of the April 22 attack.Â
Shah also slammed P Chidambaram, Former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader, on his 'homegrown' terrorists remark. He said, "We have proof- two had Pakistani voter IDs and even the chocolates that they carried were made in Pakistan." Shah went on to question what the Congress leader gets by saving Pakistan, and giving it a clean chit in the terror attack.Â
The terrorists have been identified as Suleiman alias Faizal, Afghani, and Jibran, who are Pakistani nationals and belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). They were killed in an encounter in the Harwan area, near the Dachigam National Park in Srinagar. Notably, Suleiman Shah was one of the masterminds of the Pahalgam killing.Â
The operation was launched on Monday afternoon following intelligence and technical surveillance that indicated a terrorist movement in the region. Around 11 am, a joint team of 24 Rashtriya Rifles and 4 para unit detected terrorist movement in Harwan's Mulnar area. In an intense gunfight between the security forces and terrorists, three heavily armed infiltrators were killed.Â
Operation Mahadev was launched on the day when the Parliament began a special debate on Operation Sindoor, which was India's response to the Pahalgam attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians in the Kashmir Valley. It is named after the 13,000 ft Mahadev Mountain, which is the highest peak in the Zabarwan range, located near the Dachigam National Park.Â
A day after Operation Mahadev, the security forces have launched a massive search operation in the Hiranagar area of Jammu & Kashmir's Kathua, as a woman had seen three armed men on Monday night. The areas that infiltrators likely use are being searched.Â
