A 43-year-old man in Bengaluru on Monday stabbed his 32-year-old telecaller wife to death near Sunkadakatte bus stand on Magadi Road, after which he surrendered himself before Kamakshipalya Police.

According to the Police, the accused, Lohithashwa, who is a resident of Sunkadakatte and hails from Sira in Tumakuru district, walked into the police station on Monday night and confessed to murdering his wife, Rekha, earlier that day.

It was Rekha's second marriage to Lohithashwa. She was previously married to Manjunath and was the mother of two daughters, who are aged 12 and 9, with him. Two years ago, she got separated from him and moved to Sira, where she met Lohithashwa. He was also divorced.

She got Lohithashwa a driver's job in a private firm, where she worked as a telecaller. They lived in a rented house. But Lohithashwa always suspected that Rekha had extramarital affairs and was close to another man, for which he also fought with her every now and then. He also engaged in a fight with Rekha when her parents visited them last week. Lohithashwa also wanted Rekha to send the daughters to her parents' house; however, she refused to do so.

On Monday morning, Rekha's parents left for their hometown in Hassan district, accompanied by her younger daughter.

Rekha was going to her workplace with her elder daughter when the accused arrived at the scene, stabbed her 11 times with a knife, and then fled. The incident was captured on the CCTV cameras. The locals took her to a nearby hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries.

Lohithashwa had quit his job a day before. He confessed to his crime, stating that he hid the knife and was wandering here and there aimlessly. The Police said that efforts are underway to find the murder weapon.
