Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in Bihar on Friday. With this, 75 lakh women in the state received Rs 10,000 each in their bank accounts. 

The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana is a 7,500 crore scheme of Bihar's NDA Government, which aims to promote women's empowerment through livelihood and opportunities for self-employment. 

 

 

PM Modi launched the scheme virtually from New Delhi via video conferencing, while Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and other ministers joined him online from Patna. A large number of women were present at the gathering. 

The newly launched scheme holds immense significance ahead of the scheduled assembly elections in the state. An official statement read, "Under the scheme, financial assistance will be provided to one woman from each family, for livelihood activities of their choice, fostering economic independence and social empowerment." 

Initially, the beneficiaries will receive a grant of Rs 10,000 via direct benefit transfer, along with an expected financial support of Rs 2 lakh additionally in subsequent phases. The beneficiaries can utilise the assistance in any area of their choice, including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, and other small-scale enterprises. 

The statement added, "The scheme is community-driven, in which, along with financial support, community resource persons connected to self-help groups will provide training to support their (women) endeavour. To support the sale of their produce, Gramin Haat Bazaars will be further developed in the state."
