Bihar minister Ashok Choudhary, on Sunday, while taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi ahead of his 'Vote Adhikar Yatra', said that the Congress leader should thank Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the improvement of road infrastructure in the state, which will make his rally possible.

As quoted by news agency ANI, Ashok Choudhary said, "Rahul Gandhi should thank Nitish Kumar, for the roads that used to be in such a bad shape are now so smooth that Rahul Gandhi is even able to take out a Yatra...he should be grateful that such a big yatra will be possible due to Nitish Kumar's roads."

The Vote Adhikar Yatra, which is led by Congress, is being launched in Sasaram to protest against the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, as well as the INDIA bloc allies, have accused the Election Commission of vote-theft (vote chori) and large-scale voter exclusion.

It is expected that senior leaders, including RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Bihar Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Rahul Gandhi, are going to participate in the protest. The preparations for the event are already underway outside Patna.

While addressing the media on Saturday, Bihar Leader of the Opposition, Tejaswi Yadav, had stated that the campaign aims to raise awareness among the citizens, especially those whose names have been excluded from the voter list.

He said, "We are starting with the Vote Adhikar Yatra from Sasaram tomorrow. Tomorrow, we will all be with the Mahagathbandhan allies. We will visit several districts, and our effort will be to make people aware so that no voter's name is left out. We also have fought for this, and got a relief from the Supreme Court in this matter, whether it is the Supreme Court's direction to the Election Commission of India to publish the list of 65 lakh persons excluded or deleted from the Bihar draft electoral voter list, along with the reasons."

Calling the Yatra a historical journey, Tejaswi added, "Tomorrow, Rahul Gandhi and other leaders of the Mahagathbandhan will go among the people and make them aware of voter rights. Along with this, we will also raise the local issues. We will also convey what our mission would be if we form our government. This will be a historical journey, and we will get the blessings of our Bihar voters."
