  • A bomb threat warning was issued in the Delhi High Court, and later in the Bombay High Court
  • The email message warned of Pakistan ISI cells active, with three bombs planted in the judge's chambers and court premises under an alleged conspiracy similar to the "1998 Coimbatore blasts"
  • Both the courts were evacuated, and proceedings were halted, with heightened security measures underway

The Delhi High Court was evacuated on Friday after a threat was issued via email, warning of a bomb blast in the judge's chamber shortly after the afternoon Friday Islamic prayers. Police deployed the bomb detection and disposal squad, carrying out immediate security measures in the premises.

The email warning was sent purportedly from an ID in the name of Kanimozhi Thevidiya. It named several individuals and organizations, including Pakistani ISI cells, carrying out an alleged conspiracy to detonate explosives in the High Court premises. It claimed of a man of the minority community linked with Pakistan's ISI cells in Coimbatore, planning to recreate the "1998 Coimbatore blasts", while referring to detonating an explosive device in the judge's chamber.

Not only this, the threatening email also alleged a broader plot to target political heirs and violent attacks on prominent public figures, such as "Udhayanidhi Stalin's son will be acid-burnt."

It said that the blast will lead to a "political takeover", with the violence aiming to reshape political leadership, while accusing "pseudo-secularists" of corruption and stating that a "blast at Delhi High Court would clear the previous bluffs."

The message also included instructions to contact a named person for purported IED locations and defusing codes. It used conspiratorial language throughout, saying that the planned action is timed for this "Holy Friday."

Talking about the threat, President of the Delhi High Court Bar Association, Senior Advocate N Hariharan said, "...The combing operations are underway. Nothing suspicious has been found till now. There has been no panic-like situation...We hope that work will resume by 2:30 pm."

Soon after, a bomb threat was also received in the Bombay High Court, after which lawyers and staff members were asked to vacate the court premises. Further investigations are underway. The sudden scare led to chaos and fear among the people present inside the two courts.
