Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's security will reportedly be upgraded, following the attack on her during the weekly Jan Sunwai event at the Civil Lines Camp Office on Wednesday. The incident had sparked concerns and raised questions about the law and order situation in Delhi.

According to the security guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), CM Rekha Gupta is provided 'Z-plus' category security. However, after the attack, it is said that the security might be revamped, with "more personnel" or enhancement of arrangements.

The Centre has granted 'Z' category CRPF security to Gupta, following the attack, as reported by news agency PTI.

After the Union Home Ministry's directions, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) took charge of the Delhi CM's security, and were spotted outside her residence. This is done after a threat perception report of the Central Intelligence Agencies, reported PTI.

Reportedly, the VIP Security Group (VSG) will secure the CM, her official residence, and the Camp office on Raj Niwas Marh in the Civil Lines Area of the national capital from now on. VSG also provides protection to Home Minister Amit Shah and the Gandhi family (of Congress).

The sources have revealed that about 22-25 armed CRPF commandos will be deployed in CM's protection 24X7. With the revamp, there will be new security measures in place, including the regulation of access to her residence, security gadgets in check, and proximate protection through male and female security officers whenever she moves in public spaces.

Not only this, but now there will be a ban on people directly approaching Gupta during the Jan Sunwai sessions. This is to make sure that the security protocols are strengthened, and no such incident is reported during CM's interactions with the public. Even the complaint will be verified before being passed on to the Chief Minister.
