The second phase of the Bihar elections concluded on Tuesday, with Bihar recording an impressive voter turnout of 67.14%. With this comes the turn of the exit polls ahead of the counting across more than 90,700 polling stations scheduled on November 14. A multiple of them suggests a strong position for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with a setback for the INDIA bloc.
Dainik Bhaskar forecasted that the NDA will win 145-160 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan will secure 73-91 seats, and the others will restrict to 5-10 seats. While People's Insights predicted NDA at 133-148, Mahagathbandhan between 87-102, and others at 5-10 seats. Matrize projected 147-167 seats for the NDA. The People's Pulse showed a significant advantage for the NDA with 133-159 seats, the Mahagathbandhan between 75-101 seats, while the JSP will fall between 0-5. The final verdict will reveal whether Chief Minister Nitish Kumar retains his position for the tenth term or will Tejashwi Yadav manage to dethrone him, bringing a generational shift. But, till then, the situation remains dramatic and pretty much unpredictable in one of the largest legislative assemblies of India.
Peoples Pulse Bihar Exit Polls 2025 indicate a clear edge for the NDA, projected at 133–159 seats with a strong 46.2% vote share. NDA appears on course to cross the 122 mark.#BiharExitPolls #BiharElections2025 #ExitPolls #PeoplesPulse #peddi #IndiaToday #NationalSecurity pic.twitter.com/Bxd9djQEZ7

As the NDA shows a majority in the exit polls, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also stated firmly that Nitish Kumar is the CM face of the alliance, and clarified that there was never any confusion in that regard. Speaking to news agency ANI, he said, "Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) has been very clear. He has already said that we do not have any vacancies. Why should we name the person? The name is Nitish Kumar. Where is the confusion? We do not have any confusion. Our CM face is Nitish Kumar."
The first phase of the elections ended on November 6, with a voting percentage of 64.66%. This stood out to be a massive, record-breaking voter turnout in the state for the very first time.
Earlier in 2020, the NDA was elected to power with 125 out of 243 seats, with the BJP dominating at 74 seats, JD(U) at 43, and HAM at 4 seats respectively. The INDIA bloc, however, followed closely with 110 seats - RJD at 75, Congress at 19, CPI-ML at 12, and the CPI and CPM winning 2 each.
