The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings for various parts of the country. The Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) is on red alert, with heavy rains expected to continue until August 19. On August 14, the national capital and its surrounding regions experienced rain showers in the morning. Several districts in Uttarakhand are on an orange alert, with a forecast of heavy downpour from August 14 to 17.Â
IMD stated, "Updated nowcast map showing spell of moderate to intense rainfall mainly over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Madhya Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, during the next three hours."Â
Heavy rains are already lashing out in Telangana. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy conducted a meeting with ministers and other officials on August 12, ordering the authorities to be well-prepared for the next two days.Â
IMD has released a weather update for Delhi-NCR for the upcoming days:Â
August 14: The sky is expected to be mostly cloudy, with moderate rain expected during the day. Daytime temperatures will be around 33ºC, while it will drop to 25ºC at night. Humidity will fall between a range of 80%-70%.Â
August 15: Independence Day in the national capital city will be generally cloudy, along with occasional spells of rain and thundershowers during the day. During the day, temperatures will be around 32ºC, falling to 24ºC at night. Humidity will range between 85% and 70%.Â
August 16: Cloudy conditions will continue, with rain and thunderstorms. The temperature will be at 32°C during the day and 23ºC at night, with humidity levels ranging between 90% and 65%.Â
August 17: The day will be cloudy, likely causing little rainfall or a drizzle. Temperatures during the day will be at 33°C and 24°C at night, with humidity ranging from 90% to 65%.Â
August 18: Showers or thunderstorms are forecasted for the day. Daytime temperature will be around 33°C and will fall to 25ºC at night. Humidity levels will fall between 85% and 60%.Â
Following the IMD warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state, the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) has issued fresh advisories for the district magistrates across the region. Red alerts are issued for Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Uddham Singh Nagar, Nainital, and Bageshwar Nagar, along with a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall for several places, with incidents of extremely heavy rainfall.Â
Other districts of the state are under an orange alert until August 15, with a yellow alert for the remaining areas.Â
