Indore becomes the Cleanest city, yet again, honored in the 'Super Swachh League' category for the eighth consecutive time in 2024-25. President Draupadi Murmu conferred the award to Madhya Pradesh Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya, the city mayor, Pushyamitra Bhargava, and Commissioner Shivam Verma at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Thursday, July 17. Surat followed in the second spot in the 10 lakh+ population, Navi Mumbai stood at third, with Vijaywada on fourth in the Swachh Super League 2024-25. The event was also attended by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal.
10 years ago, Indore secured the 149th spot in the cleanliness ranking of 2014. In 2017, Indore secured the first spot and has been at the forefront for 8 long years, with its consistent improvement and growth potential in the future. It started with door-to-door garbage collection, soon followed by segregation of wet and dry waste, continuing without a failure, even during the pandemic, with the creation of energy through waste, and sticking to the system, which led Indore to strive towards cleanliness every time.
Indore will now mentor other cities in cleanliness under the new Government policy. Under the new proposal, Indore might be assigned the responsibility of another town as a "twin city", as informed by Kailash Vijaywargiya at the MP Growth Conclave.
