On Monday, Israel conducted an airstrike on a Gaza hospital, which killed 20 people, including five reporters working for Al Jazeera, the Associated Press, and Reuters, among many prominent media undertakings.Â
This drew worldwide criticism, to which the Israeli Ministry said that they were targeting a camera operated by Hamas.Â
In its statement, the Ministry said that the strike was initiated after Israeli soldiers "identified a camera that was positioned by Hamas in the area of the Nasser Hospital", further adding that "they operated to remove the threat by striking and dismantling the camera."Â
Israel had said that among those who were killed, six were terrorists. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the strike a "tragic mishap."Â
At the beginning of the month, the Israeli strikes had killed around four Al Jazeera staff and two freelancers in Gaza. According to media sources, over 200 media workers have been killed in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.Â
