A 3.2 magnitude earthquake hit Faridabad early Tuesday, with tremors in Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) and Noida. No damage and casualties have been reported so far. Even though the tremors have spread concern among the residents.

According to the National Center of Seismology (NCS), a mild earthquake of 3.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck around 6:00 am, with its epicenter located in Haryana's Faridabad. The tremor had its origin at a shallow depth of 5 km beneath the earth's surface.

The earthquake's coordinates were recorded at latitude 28.29º N and longitude 72.21ºE. The tremor was mild; however, the shallow depth was felt across parts of Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and areas nearby.

Residents even took to social media after the earthquake tremors. But, it was confirmed by the authorities that there was no damage or casualty in any affected region.

The seismic activity of the region is being monitored. Mild earthquakes are very common in the northern region of Delhi-NCR, which is a part of seismic zone IV, which is a high-damage risk zone.

The citizens have been advised not to panic during this time, and make sure to abide by the necessary guidelines issued by the authorities. Also, follow the basic earthquake safety measures.

Not a first earthquake in recent times

Delhi-NCR has been experiencing many tremors for a few weeks. Haryana's Jhajjar was hit by two back-to-back earthquakes on July 10 and 11, with a magnitude of 4.4 and 3.7 on the Richter scale. The ground shake was also felt in Gurugram, Rohtak, Noida, and Central Delhi.

According to seismologists, these kinds of moderate tremors were caused due to tectonic stress in the region. The Mahendragarh-Dehradun fault is primarily responsible for July tremors.
