Atal Bihari Vajpayee is one of the tallest leaders of Indian politics, known for his good and fair governance. He was the founding members of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).Â
Vajpayee breathed his last on August 16, 2018, at AIIMS Delhi, aged 93, after battling prolonged illness. He served as the Prime Minister of India three times - first elected in 1996 for a brief period, then regained power in 1998 and later in 2004.Â
Vajpayee's biggest contributions include India's successful nuclear test in Pokhran and the Kargil win against Pakistan, when he was the Prime Minister. His birthday on 25th December is celebrated as "Good Governance Day" every year.Â
In 2015, the Former PM was awarded Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honor of India.Â
