Cloudbursts in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag and Chamoli: Several families trapped

Uttarakhand was struck by cloudbursts in Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts on Thursday night. Several families have been trapped in debris, facing multiple injuries. No casualties have been reported so far. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is overseeing rescue operations.

Another cloudburst hit Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts on Thursday night, leaving several families trapped and causing multiple injuries. Rescue and relief operations were carried out through the night. 8 people are missing, while no casualties have been reported so far. 

 

 

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the debris flow blocked many regions, stranding several people. Taking to X, the Chief Minister wrote, "A distressing report has been received that due to cloudbursts in the Bareth Dungar Tok area under the Buskedar tehsil of Rudraprayag district and in the Deval area of Chamoli district, some families have been trapped due to debris flow." 

Adding, "Relief and rescue operations are underway at a war footing by the local administration; in this regard, I am in constant contact with officials, and have issued necessary instructions to the Disaster Secretary and District Magistrates to ensure the effective conduct of rescue operations. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safe well-being of all." 

This is the second cloudburst that struck Uttarakhand within a week. Before Rudraprayag, Chamoli district was lashed with heavy rains due to the cloudburst, burying the Tharali market and tehsil complex in debris.
