A word bout occurred in Assam between Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress Assam Chief Gaurav Gogoi, after the former claimed that Gogoi is "100% a Pakistani Agent who has been planted by a foreign power".Â
Talking to the media on Friday, Sarma said, "Gaurav Gogoi is a Pakistani agent; he is purely that. He has been planted by a foreign power in our country." He further challenged that a defamation case can be filed against him if he is untrue.Â
The Chief Minister added, "I have so much information that when I reveal it, you will realize he is 100 percent a Pakistani agent. He has been planted by a foreign power in India, and I am speaking with appropriate proof."Â

Sarma stated that he has not held a press conference in this regard because people would say he is diverting the issue from the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. But said, "I will act at the right time."Â
Following Sarma's claims, Gogoi didn't step back from taking a jibe at the CM. The Congress MP said that the remarks are an "example of why he is unfit as the Chief Minister of the people of Assam."Â
Gogoi called out Sarma for his remarks when the state is mourning the death of its beloved singer Zubeen Garg. He wrote on X, "Over the past few months, Himanta Biswa Sarma Dangoriya has lost credibility. Yesterday, when the entire state was watching Zubeen Garg perform for the last time in Roi Roi Binale, the Chief Minister's comments showed his growing fear of losing power. It was another example of why he is unfit as the Chief Minister of the people of Assam."Â
